In many practices the report of findings has degenerated into a sales session. That's probably unnecessary because most patients have already decided what they're going to do before you explain your findings and make your recommendations.

That may fly in the face of what you've been taught by the "just-do-exactly-like-I-teach-it" crowd. Nevertheless, most patients only give you three or four visits to prove that your low-tech pain management scheme can work before you're valid enough to speak about wellness or maintenance.

"Since we don't know how your body will respond to chiropractic care, or what you'll be willing to do between visits to support your care, we'll sit down like this in 12 visits and compare where you were with where you are. You'll likely need more than 12 visits, but by then, you and I can chart a realistic course that makes sense for you and your health goals."
