At first glance you may think you’re in the chiropractic business, the health care business, the pain relief business, the curve restoration business or even the adjustment delivery business. These are common choices that can help a lot of people.
However, dig deeper and you might agree with me that you’re actually in the belief changing business. Especially if you have any hope of persuading patients to use chiropractic as a long term lifestyle adjunct.
Belief changing rarely results from simply making declarations about the value of regular care. Instead, it requires that you show up curious, showing interest in their current beliefs. Asking questions. Understanding.
Do your practice procedures create a safe place for patients to question their germ-fearing, symptom-treating, pill-popping health paradigm? Do your wall graphics provoke critical thinking? Do your patient questions stimulate conversations? Perhaps even more importantly, can you engage with patients without making them wrong?
