Monday Morning Motivation | Those Who Matter
Dr. Seuss observed, "Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind."
Some of us spend enormous amounts of energy attempting to be liked. Sure, be likeable, but posing and posturing merely in the hopes of winning over another is emotionally costly. Besides compromising our authority and authenticity, maintaining this Chameleon Complex is exhausting.
Ironically, even after all our attempts to be liked, there are still people who don’t like us. (If you have disciples, you’ll have detractors.)
Let's stop doing that. Let's not subvert our deepest beliefs or walk on eggshells in the hopes of appearing "reasonable," politically correct or acceptable. Instead, let's acknowledge that our job is to simply tell the truth, plant our flag and attract our tribe. No acting required. Even better, those who matter won’t don't mind. It's what they love about us.
