Q: Why don't you invoice customers?
A: It's our version of a "cash practice." Over the years we've been able to keep our prices low by reducing the need for an additional person to track down unpaid invoices. It keeps our business simple and our overhead low. Simple things last.
Q: What happened to the focus on VSC?
A: Bill discovered that even with metaphors, videos and brochures, most patients were either not interested or didn't "get it." After all, patients shouldn't have to learn a new language just to get chiropractic care! So, as part of an effort to simplify the message, he's gone back to just plain "subluxation." Similarly, "Subluxation Degeneration" has been reduced to the more understandable "spinal decay." VSC is a great model for the professional, but these days it probably doesn't belong in patient explanations. It was a necessary stage we needed to go through, but times change. Read more
Q: Do you offer discounts or special pricing?
A: The only thing we offer are discounts for volume purchasing. When you buy four or more the same item, we can offer what amounts to about a 10% discount. Our customers seem to like the fact that they don't have to worry that their buddy down the street got a special deal or knowing a secret promo code.
Q: Why don't you do more seminars?
A: With so many seminars these days, breaking through the "noise" is daunting. Then, by the time you rent the room, pay for the AV and all the rest, it is rarely more than simply a break even proposition. However, Bill is a frequent guest at state and local associations and conventions, which he thoroughly loves. (If you have connections with the folks who select speakers for your group or organizations, put in a good word for him!)
Q: Will you be publishing any more books?
A: It's unlikely that there will be additional titles in the 10-part patient's-point-of-view series. These days Bill makes chiropractic blog posts (about once a week) with his latest musings. We're considering creating a "Best Of" edition of the books and blog posts. But nothing concrete yet.
Q: Why didn't Bill become a chiropractor?
A: "I wrestled with that twice in my career. The most recent occasion was back in 1992 when I was wisely counseled not to do so by my mentor at the time Dr. Joe Flesia. He suggested that I could actually have a greater influence if I was 'in the profession, but not of the profession.' Some of the best advice I've ever received."
