Monday Morning Motivation | Thought Experiment
#12 of 13 questions to ask yourself: If I didn't take insurance assignment would I still have a practice?
If patients have insurance, they'll naturally want to use it. But that doesn't necessarily mean you have to take assignment. So ask yourself this question as a thought experiment.
It may reveal three weaknesses or worrisome concerns.
The first is that you have surrendered major control of your business to the whims of third parties. This makes your future vulnerable as patients are often inclined to have greater loyalty to their carrier than to you.
The second is that it can give a toehold to a very unhelpful belief. Namely, that you are offering something that holds so little value that patients would be unwilling to pay for it themselves.
Finally, it means your practice is mostly devoted to pain relief, producing a never ending demand for still more new patients.
