Monday Morning Motivation | The Enemy of Dreams
The cartoon character Pogo is famous for observing, “We have met the enemy, and he is us.”
Not only are we our own worst critic, we are also the biggest barrier to our achievement. Here are five common constraints that don’t involve the weather, insurance carriers or the other usual suspects:
Beliefs – If we think something is true (“Patients can’t afford chiropractic care.”), then we’ll likely act “as if.”
Projections – If we project our own circumstances (financial resources) or values (health) onto others, we’re setting ourselves up for disappointment.
Fears – The fear of rejection, abandonment and judgment pale in comparison to our fear of the burden of being wildly successful.
Perfectionism – Stalling because the stars aren’t perfectly aligned is a common excuse for inaction.
Contentment – Being too comfortable has probably killed more dreams than any of the above.
Which one(s) conspire to make you play small or hide your light?
