Dear Bill...

What is your opinion of the future with EBM (Evidence Based Medicine) and the need for chiropractic to conform to randomized double-blinded studies?

My Response:

EBM is a mechanistic-recipe-book approach to a vitalistic intervention. Chiropractic isn’t medicine. As such, the double blind clinical trials model is flawed and overlooks the fact that each of us is an "experiment of one." Instead, I’m in favor of EBC (Evidence Based Chiropractic).

Enemies of chiropractic, those who wish to be accepted by medicine or who think conforming to the symptom-treating mentality needed for third party reimbursement seem anxious to take chiropractic down this path. Those who reject this distortion of chiropractic are branded as "chiro-evanglists" and the recipients of other ad hominem attacks.

If advocates of purely neuromuscular-skeletal chiropractic get their way (and they’re making great strides), there will finally be unity in chiropractic. It just won't be chiropractic.

Bottom line? In my travels, those who want/need proof never get enough of it or of a high enough quality to suite them.
